Celebrating International Women’s Day
Mar. 2026
International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate women’s strength, resilience, and achievements. While the day recognizes women around the world, meaningful change often starts closer to our own homes. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is show up for the women in our own communities.
At Archewell Philanthropies, we’re proud to uplift organizations that provide safety, housing, and critical support for women rebuilding their lives. Through the years, we’ve been honored to support shelters and programs that offer stability, dignity, and opportunity to women and families who need it most:
Harvest Home – Supporting pregnant women experiencing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and a path toward independence for mothers and their babies.
Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) – Working to end women’s homelessness in Los Angeles through housing, wellness services, employment programs, and community support.
Jenesse Center – One of the largest domestic violence intervention programs in South Los Angeles, providing safe housing, counseling, and resources for survivors and their families.
Transition House – Supporting families experiencing homelessness, many of whom are single mothers, by providing emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, childcare, and programs that help women build stability, financial independence, and a path forward for themselves and their children.
Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support – Providing safety, shelter, and long-term support for women and children escaping domestic violence.
Justice for Girls – Advocating for the rights, safety, and empowerment of girls facing violence, poverty, and homelessness.
These organizations remind us that supporting women isn’t just a once-a-year gesture—it’s an ongoing commitment to safety, opportunity, and community care.
If you’re looking for a way to show up for women, consider supporting a shelter or organization in your own community. The National Women’s Shelter Network provides a directory to help you find shelters and support organizations near you—because when communities come together to care for women, everyone is stronger.
